CHURCH LIFE
The best way to explore life at HFBC is by regularly gathering with us for worship and getting to know the people in our church family. Engaging with God together on Sunday morning fuels our love for each other during the week. There are several opportunities to gather and connect with us. The common thread in our church life is opening the Word to encourage and care for each other.
Sunday Evening Prayer Service
On the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, we gather at 4:30pm to worship God through singing the Word, praying together for the church, and hearing a short devotional from God’s Word. We use this time to occasionally hear from visiting missionaries and updates on various ministries of HFBC. This is a great way to get to know more about what is going on in the life of the church and to connect with members of the body.
Equipping Classes
Equipping Classes are at 9am on Sunday mornings. We typically have a class in the fellowship hall studying various topics in the Christian life and a Bible study in our overflow room off the auditorium. These are opportunities to open God’s Word together on topics we normally don’t cover in a sermon and our teachers aim to facilitate class discussion while they teach.
Women’s Ministry
The Women’s Ministry is a place for women to disciple each other through the Word, hospitality, and fellowship. It is a practical way for women to care, counsel, and encourage one another. We have regular women’s events and Bible studies throughout the year. If you have questions, please reach out to Kate Short and Tamara Reimer.
Men’s Ministry
The Men's Ministry gathers men to grow together through God’s Word, gospel-application, prayer, and fellowship. We meet on Wednesday mornings at 6:30am in the CE building for breakfast and Bible study. We also encourage men to regularly disciple each other one on one and in small group settings.
Youth Group
The youth group meets twice a month for intentional time in the Word and to build friendships. We cultivate an environment where students engage with the Scriptures themselves and get to ask any question on their minds. Our goal is for our entire church to engage our students with the gospel by worshipping with them on Sunday mornings and regular discipleship.
Children’s Ministry
Our desire is to train up children with age-specific lessons centered on the Gospel of Jesus Christ in fun and appropriate ways. Currently, we provide a nursery through age 3 and HFBC Kid’s ministry through 4th grade. Learn more here.
Missions
HFBC has a long history of supporting global missions and sending missionaries. We believe that Jesus gave the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) to the local church to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth. We desire to support church-planting efforts in unreached people groups and value deep relationships with our supported missionaries.
Membership
The local church is God’s plan to make disciples of all nations and it’s his design for a healthy Christian life. In Acts 2:41-42, the first believers responded to the gospel through baptism and devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship of the church. We commit to a local church through membership because we need help following Jesus. Even if you don’t join HFBC, we’d love to help you find another gospel-preaching church to commit to near you.
